International Breweries Plc. (IBPlc) is committed to reducing the spread and impact of the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria by providing needed supplies, support and even entertainment during this difficult time.
A national shortage prompted the donation of 30,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to the National Centre for Disease Control, hospitals, police, community and government organizations. While financial support has funded the purchase of medical equipment, such as COVID-19 test kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers and medical personnel, including coveralls, gloves and infra-red thermometers.
To help reduce the spread of the virus, the International Breweries Foundation also is partnering with government and young entrepreneurs to produce locally made facemasks which will be distributed across Nigeria. The individuals producing the face masks are beneficiaries the KickStart Entrepreneurship Program, a platform set-up to empower budding entrepreneurs with the knowledge, mentorship and resources needed to grow their businesses.
To help combat hunger brought on by national lockdown measures, International Breweries Plc. also donated 60,000 bottles of our nutritious non-alcoholic beverages, Beta Malt and Grand Malt, to food drives serving citizens in Lagos, Ogun, Anambra, Port-Harcourt and Osun State.
And Trophy Extra Special Stout, brewed by International Breweries, did its part by sponsoring an online concert with hip hop star and activist TuFace. More than 60,000 people tuned in to the first-of-its-kind event which rallied support to unify Nigerians in staying stay home, staying safe and stopping the spread of the virus.
