Labatt Breweries, Canada’s largest brewer, quickly tapped into its capabilities and resources to support communities facing the COVID-19 public health crisis. To stop the spread of the virus, Labatt’s breweries in London, Edmonton, Montreal, Vancouver, and Mill Street Beer Hall in Toronto shifted production from beer to alcohol-based disinfecting gel.

More than 100,000 bottles of hand sanitizer have now been safely delivered and donated to Food Banks Canada and workers at local bars and restaurants serving takeout meals.

The donation was funded by Labatt’s Disaster Relief Program, which previously provided 683,000 cans of clean drinking water to residents and responders during crises including the Fort McMurray wildfires and the St. John River floods in New Brunswick. 

  Budweiser Canada also showed its support by redirecting $500,000 of sports investments to the Canadian Red Cross. The funds are helping in the distribution of emergency supplies, mental health services, PPE training and connecting people with assistance programs. 

 

For restaurants and bars forced to closed or get by on take-out business, Stella Artois launched Rally for Restaurants to provide immediate financial relief. The program makes it possible for Canadians to purchase a gift card to their local favorite place and Stella Artois will add $10 to the value which goes directly to the business owner. To date, more than 1,000 establishments are participating in the program.
