100% of our products will be in packaging that is in returnable or majority-recycled content
We believe the responsibility for our product extends beyond the last sip of beer. We are constantly looking for ways to increase the recycled material in our packaging, increase recycling rates around the world through the recovery and reuse of glass and aluminum, and reduce the amount of material we use in our packaging.
We have increased the recycled content in our packaging and continue to make progress in our use of returnable packaging, with nearly half of our production volume already in returnable packaging.
Through light-weighting and packaging reduction initiatives from 2012-2017, we removed more than 140,000 tons of material from our packaging globally. Our breweries also adhere to zero waste, achieving over 99% recycling rates. We will continue to use our global reach and influence to inspire our suppliers, partners, consumers and governments to work with us to reduce, reuse and recycle – helping to close the loop and eliminate waste.
Corona x Parley: Addressing Ocean Plastic
Our global brands are also committed to champion sustainability causes. For example, Corona, through a partnership with Parley for the Oceans, has committed to protect 100 islands from marine plastic pollution by 2020. Additionally, the brand has engaged more than 100,000 consumers in volunteer clean-ups and online sign-ups.
